  1. Interesting to see St. Thomas ranked second in-region. Strength of schedule and results against regionally ranked opponents are certainly on UW-Stevens Point’s side, though.

Good early indications for the WIAC getting three teams in the tournament.

  2. I think that Hamilton and Middlebury should be regional; this is an issue of how you drive to get there and may be a by-product of the NCAA software (which is new and non-public).

Wesley appears to be missing a game; they should be 13-5, 11-1.

LeTourneau beat Texas-Tyler on 1/31, 91-80; this score needs to be fixed on D3Hoops.com.

Whitworth appears with only 2 non-regional losses. Cal State-East Bay is regional this year (they’ve dropped the marker for NAIA that they’ve always had in the championship handbook).

My preview of the rankings (see Pool C page) had 56 out of 58 and it would have been 57 out of 58 without the bad LeTourneau score. I only missed Montclair State (had them as first runner-up). The most that I was off was three spots (both Colby and DeSales were better in the official rankings).

  3. There are at least 5 more losses to be handed out among the 3 WIAC teams. The three teams have their second round games, with UWW hosting SP and UWP and SP hosting UWP in a rematch of last years regular season finale, with the venue swapped and likely conference championship implications, and the two teams that dont win the WIAC tourney will pick up another loss in the tourney by default.

WW may be on the cusp if they drop the two games to UWP and SP and then again in the tourney. That gives them 6 losses and puts their record vs. ranked opponents worse, too. This situation would most certainly solidify UWP and UWSP, even if both would also be upset in the conf tournament, even if UWSP beats UWP.

If WW wins one of these two, I think they probably are in, as long as they don’t drop a game to another WIAC team and UWP or UWSP wins the tourney. Actually, the assumption is that UWW, UWP and UWSP wont drop a game except to each other… if they do, then they might slip out.

  4. Here’s an interesting case: Bard and Rivier come out as exactly 200 miles apart. Is that game in-region or out? I’m assuming in.
