Teams are in. Teams are out. Maybe we don’t agree with all the choices, but Keith and Pat don’t find much to complain about who got in the bracket for the Field of 32. And while the slimmed-down NCAA budget gives us a bracket that is a throwback to the bygone days of, say, 2007, there’s a bright side to that which Keith likes.

Did Wartburg get jobbed in its first-round draw, having to face St. Thomas rather than, say, Macalester or St. Scholastica? Why do Widener and Delaware Valley seem to be playing the wrong opponents? Where are the key personnel changes people need to be aware of and what storylines might you miss if you’re from a different part of the country?

The playoff picture began to take shape this week, as 14 of the 24 automatic bids were claimed. Pat and Keith talk through the teams who are in, who has yet to clinch and who might be in line for the Pool B bids.

Around the Nation Podcast: Bringin’ the intrigue!

Now, we finally get some intrigue. Admittedly, when UW-Whitewater is tied at the half and Mary Hardin-Baylor is down and Linfield trails and goes on to lose, sometimes that’s what counts for intrigue in Division III football.

We’re not Division II, where the scholarships even out the top teams a little. And where there are just fewer teams altogether. No, here in Division III we remain top-heavy. Just maybe a little lighter after this week.
