Franklin vs. Centre

Due to technical problems that randomly have put a stop to my broadcast… I will try and give you updates through this until we can solved the problem.

At the half – Centre 34, Franklin 27

Franklin and Centre have been trading shot after shot from inside and outside. The gym is packed with mostly Centre fans, but it isn’t affecting Franklin who is playing very well. I will get you stats as soon as I can, but both teams are playing very well. It is a complete opposite of the first game which Heidelberg controlled from the five minute point on.

Centre keeps hitting three point shots – including one at the end of the half – that seem like daggers, but Franklin keeps answering.

Will bring you the stats as soon as I can!

  2. The fans are certainly into this game… the “3… 2… 1… ERRRRR!” is creative when the shot clock actually reads “5”.

That being said, they have a few cheers that should be put away. When the entire gym is yelling “B——t”… not classy.

I have been disctracted to hear if there are some other “questionable” cheers. But, the atmosphere is pretty good. Should Centre win… tomorrow night’s game should be another great atmosphere.

Not sure what the weather is like outside… expecting 4-10 inches of snow tonight. It was raw with snow and sleet when I arrived at 4PM.

    52-43 Centre 9:45 left

  3. WOW… big battle inside on several lose rebounds and Centre’s Ryan Crowdis finally got the ball, went up with it, was hit hard, and still converted… the roof nearly came off this place!

    He converted on the three-point play – 57-49 Centre 6:30 2nd.

  4. Centre just called a 30 second time out
they are up 61-53, but every time they seem to be in control… Franklin comes roaring back. 4:48 remaining. Do or die time for Franklin.

  5. Very impressed with Jace Redman of Franklin. He is a very good point guard who isn’t affraid of being in the paint and is always aware of where his teammates are. He as found them open on the floor in many different places and times. He also plays very good guard.

  6. For the second time tonight – the refs have allowed a timeout called by a player who is not in control. Both times, once in the first game and just now, the player was falling out of bounds and didn’t have control of their body or I don’t think had both feet on the ground. There needs to be some uniformity with this call. The bail out timeout was done away with – but twice tonight it has been allowed!

  7. Jeez – it just happened a THIRD time! The player calling the timeout had a foot in the air falling out of bounds and the SAME ref allowed the timeout! It is ridiculous! I have seen several times this season where the timeout has not been called – and rightly so. Three times tonight I have seen otherwise. The NCAA might want to remind the refs of this rule!

  8. By the way, was told that Centre College game away 200 tickets to the students… starting at 5:30 this morning. Some students actually campted out in tents and 160 tickets were gone in very little time… the remaining 40 were gone in something like 30 minutes or by 6:30!

The Centre students are impressive that they all are wearing black t-shirts and a lot of them have painted their faces or even their bodies!

    71-56 Centre 1:33 2nd

  9. I believe the chants were “Push It” creative and commonly confused with the later.

  10. Ha… nope. You can only wish that was what it was! Trust me… it always followed what the students felt were bad calls from the refs! 🙂

  11. Dave, you were sitting right behind a bunch of fraternity guys, so I don’t doubt that most of them were saying were what you heard. But FlightOfThePetrel is correct…most of the crowd was saying “push it” and using the accompanying hand gesture. Hope you’re enjoying sunny Danville. Should have been here 2 weeks ago when it was in the 70s. Agreed on the crazy TO calls the refs were allowing–like watching a flashback . Should be interesting game tonight–Centre has a matchup problems with OWU’s bigs and OWU has matchup problems with Centre’s guards. Hope we get to hear your call!

  12. Actually, Dave – I’m a student here at Centre C, and at the beginning of this year, we had some disciplinary problems with fans being rude and rowdy at our soccer games. Therefore, at the request of our athletic administrators and the SCAC, we’ve modified all of our cheers to appropriate words. So, what you were hearing was “Push It”, and all the fans put their arms out in front of them and push the air. It’s meant to be a suggestion that the refs are “pushing” the limits of the rules by making such awful calls. Or at least that’s what we tell everyone =)

  13. You obviously missed the pushing motion the fans were doing with their hands! No mention of Thomason’s dunk? CC never trailed after that.

  14. I know Dave and Centre IT have been working on it. But also, we have the one (one?) phone line in the gym available to us tonight as a backup as well so I feel very confident that even if the wireless network isn’t working for him we should be on. If dialing up, the sound quality won’t be quite as good, but should be adequate.
