The NCAA Division III men’s and women’s basketball committees released their second regional rankings of the 2005-06 season Wednesday afternoon. The first record listed is the record in regional games, followed by overall record, through Sunday, Feb. 12.
The number of teams ranked in the men’s poll is relative to the number of teams in each region.

I actually think that the D3 hoops regional record for Mt. St. Marys is incorrect. I think NYCT should count as a regional game. I think the NCAA 16-5 regional record is correct.

West: Puget Sound falls one spot. UW-La Crosse falls one spot. UW-Stout and Wartburg climb one position each. Willamette (was sixth) drops out. UW-Whitewater climbs one spot. Carleton falls one spot. St. Thomas enters the ranking at No. 6.

I don’t see a single Pool B team listed among the Women.
It is nice to see the Medaille women appropriately ranked, a very exciting ride from the days of the 5 win Lady Mavs team of 2003. It may have been a December win against SJF, but Medaille was full measure that day, scoring 53 pts. in the first half against the Cardinals. Medaille, all sophmores and freshmen, and the #2 rebounding team in the nation, are legit. Good enough to get out of the East Region, if they win the AMCC tournament? Maybe not this year, but they are now a team nobody will be terribly anxious to play in the NCAAs.
