It could take a while for Chapman to be seen as a real Top 25 candidate.

North Park was one of the biggest stories on Saturday night, but there were plenty of other surprises of a different kind. Not teams that broke long streaks or look like they might soon, but some surprise unbeaten teams. That’s teams such as Hartwick, Gallaudet, Olivet, Greenville, Millsaps, Lake Forest, Pacific and others listed in the tags at the bottom of the page. None of those are in the Top 25, and most fans understand why, but if you don’t, we’ll discuss why, whether those teams have a shot to do so and what it would take for voters to do so. (Gallaudet portion transcribed in the comments section.)

Plus the ODAC got more ODACky, the USA South did its thing, sort of, the NESCAC is far enough along for us to talk about and more.

The games involving the elite teams were generally snoozefests, blowouts without much to write home about. Thankfully, it was a week in which there were some great stories to talk about elsewhere, however, including some involving teams which are playoff contenders and others who might have just had their big moment for the year. Pat and Keith talk about some of the interesting stories in this week’s Around the Nation podcast.

In a week where two top five teams lost, one to another top five team and one to an archrival, it presented an interesting conundrum to the Top 25 voters. Keith McMillan and Pat Coleman discuss the changes they would make on their ballot in this week’s Around the Nation podcast.

Of course, Pat was also at Mary Hardin-Baylor, where the spectacle of a brand-new palace of Division III football was the story of the evening. More about that, this season’s surprise teams and more in this week’s podcast.

Keith McMillan and Pat Coleman break down that and much more and analyze it all for you. The Around the Nation podcast is our weekly discussion of what went down and what’s about to happen.
