The entertainment in the 2022 Division III playoff bracket continued into the second round, and then reverberated throughout social media on Sunday afternoon and evening. That’s when the Division III football world came to realize that Delaware Valley was given the nod to host the playoff game against Mount Union, then came to usĀ for answers.
And maybe didn’t understand the answers, or want to understand the answers, let alone like them. But there are answers, and we explain … again, at the top of our show.
That doesn’t overshadow the great wins on the road by Wartburg (at St. John’s) and Bethel (at Linfield) and Mary Hardin-Baylor (at Trinity). Nor does it take anything away from the come-from-behind win by Delaware Valley against Randolph-Macon.
So we brought in Gordon Mann, normally of D3hoops.com but also Delaware Valley’s longtime football play-by-play voice, to talk about what this means to the program, to not only win but host, and we talk with Frank Rossi of In The Huddle, who was at Trinity and saw that game with UMHB. And you hear extended conversation from coaches and players from Wartburg and North Central. We also take two listener questions and talk about why Kevin Bullis decided this was the time to retire as UW-Whitewater head coach.
Pat Coleman and Greg Thomas talk about it all in the latest D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast. The D3football.com Around the Nation Podcast is a regular conversation covering the wide range of Division III football.

Don’t get it. Number 2 should never travel in quarters.
The Top 25 polls have never been a factor.
Psst… North Central was No. 1 in our poll when it traveled to No. 4 Mount Union last year.
Little difference in 1 vs 4 via 2 vs 8???
And then when you remember that the semifinals are a whole round later … is it still a little difference?
although i get it d3 rankings have no matter but mount travelling being undefeated??
Like North Central did last year, as the defending national champion?
I think quarters vs semis are a big difference.
sorry i get it pat. at this point where doesnt matter. thats what i love about d3
