ATN’s thoughts on Week 3

Around the Nation went across the nation this past weekend to see what all the Catdome hype was about in the Pacific Northwest. Hear Keith McMillan and Pat Coleman talk about the Linfield/Hardin-Simmons game and more.

Other subjects and teams touched on this week: Salisbury, Montclair State, Hartwick’s star running back, Rowan’s new quarterback, Carnegie Mellon’s decision to go for two, UW-Whitewater’s loss in D-II, Capital’s potential loss at receiver and much more.

  1. Guys that Audio ATN is fantastic! What a pleasure it is to sit back and listen to some quality info regarding D3 football on a weekly basis. Thanks! Yes Union is in trouble if you are looking at them in a traditional fashion. Traditional meaning having a high winning percentage. This team is not the Union of old and even if you look hard at the Union of the past few seasons they were really a 4 man show. Not to take anything away from the other Ducthmen but they just never showed the resolve of a deep team. Look at when they lost Angiletta last year. They really did struggle to win games that many thought they would dominate. This team needs more than one player to step up and lead by example period. They need to work out a consistant running game and give their new QB time to develop. I also feel this team needs a lot from its coaching staff. Do you try and mold your players to your system or do you mold your system to your players strengths? I don’t know but the Union Dutchmen are not going to be in the running for the LL title this season in a LL that is not as strong as in years past.

  2. We were very cognizant of the speakers for announcements (unless Pat did a superb editing job, I’m sure a few announcements got in … which might have lent to the ‘travel’ theme) and for people walking by.

Dlippiel, we are glad to do it, glad to hear people are enjoying it. It’s sometimes weird to not get my reflections on the weekend’s games out until Thursday with ATN, so this has been a good development, and it also requires Pat and I to have a weekly ‘meeting of the minds,’ which has been helpful so far given that we have to solidify what we think about post-game topics much sooner than before.

    Hopefully the improvement is evident.
