GameDay, meet Game Day

GameDay just hit the airwaves on ESPN and so far the crowd is looking pretty good in Williamstown, Mass. I must admit to not being much of a GameDay watcher in the past couple of years. As I’ve traveled to more and more Division III games, I don’t exactly find myself in front of a television at 10 a.m. ET on a Saturday. This is only the third weekend of 11 that I’ve spent at home, and I’m only doing that because I have to be at the airport at a little after 3 p.m. to get to ESPNU.

Just showed highlights of Mount Union. Chris Fowler pronounced Monon Bell correctly. ESPN graphic missed the hyphen on Hampden-Sydney.

I’ll be virtually channel surfing between the big games today and watching for teams to clinch, etc.

  1. Can’t believe my eyes, GameDay at a D3 game. Did I see correct that the D2 selection show was at the same time as ours on the same channel? Our we having to share 30 minutes to announce the playoffs? Hope I am wrong, both division deserve their own time.

  2. Unfortunately, this is true. Not sure how we’re going to do in 12 minutes what we usually do in about 20.

  3. Hobart answers back lightining quick… Hobart up 14-7… Looks like we’ll go into half with that score…

  4. Wesley scores again 27-20 Pennewell went over 100 yrds with 10 mins left in first half. 8 straight games over 100 yrds rushing

  5. Hobart Scores Again, U of R blocks the extra point… Hobart up 20-7… RPI is up on Union 15-7 at half…

  6. 12:12 left in 3rd quarter… U of R scores after a big 3rd down grab by J.J. Vanderstein… Hobart up 20-14

  7. CWRU finally scores with 1:09 left in half. Neither O has been effective. Mirando filling in for Whalen was picked on his first pass, but defense held. Brew recovered fumble to set Spartans up on OWU 25, but 37 yard FG was just wide right.

  8. OWU answers with 50 yard TD pass that goes through arms of defenders, but PAT hits upright 7-6 CWRU at half.

  9. U of R has held the ball for almost the entire 3rd quarter… They just turned the ball over on downs… Hobart takes over on downs heading into the 4th quarter…

  10. Whitewater 7 Platteville 0…Justin Beaver 23 yard TD run on the Warhawks first possession of the game.

  11. St. John Fisher just scored to go up 17-3 on Alfred just before half. Coast Guard blocked a Curry punt early in the fourth quarter but did nothing with it, trails Curry 10-7 with 6:12 left.

  12. Keith McMillan checks in from Randolph-Macon to report that it hasn’t been a good first 30 minutes for the Yellow Jackets. Hampden-Sydney leads 21-7 at the break.

  13. Ithaca 40 Cortland 17. Two 95+ yd Bomber drives have put 2 TD’s on the board. Mid 4th Q. 8:30 left. Cortland punting.

    IC 1 & 10 on their own 35.

  14. Coast Guard’s attempted game-tying field goal was blocked with nine seconds left and Curry holds on to win. Highlight on the front page.

  15. Bombers with a HUGE win over C-State. And Utica is up over Hartwick? SJF over Alfred? Hmmmmm………..

  16. Hobart scores again… Hobart up 30-14, with 6:10 to play… It looks like RPI will beat Union and Hobart will pull this off… RPI gets auto bid, Hobart pool C possibility???

  17. CWRU keeps OWU pinned inside its 20 for 10 minutes of 3Q. Mike Tuertscher returns fumble for TD. 14-6 CWRU 5 to go 3Q.

  18. RPI comes up with huge interception with 1:25 left in the game…Union has no timeouts…. RPI will win this one!!!!!

  19. DePauw scored on a 36-yard shovel pass, but missed the extra point. At the 10:09 mark in the 3rd…

    Wabash 14, DePauw 13

  20. In a game where the winner is a pool C bubble team (unless NCC can snag the AQ), NCC jumped all over Carthage to a 28-3 lead. Carthage refuses to fold and ran back the ensuing kickoff – now 28-10 nearing the half.

  21. DePauw went for a 4th down conversion inside the Wabash 30 but failed. With 2:51 in the 3rd…Wabash 14, DePauw13

  22. In 2004, Carthage surprised everyone by coming back from a 3-7 season to win the CCIW and 2 playoff games with one of the best defenses in the country. That seems a lo-o-ong time ago: NCC 35, Carthage 10, still first half.
