North Coast Athletic Conference tiebreakers

kenyonThese come directly from the North Coast Athletic Conference office and break down the confusion that is the final week of the season in the NCAC. Since the conference doesn’t play a full round-robin, this messiness has always been possible, but now, in the last week of the last year without a full schedule, it’s come to this, with Ohio Wesleyan, Wittenberg and Kenyon all tied for first at 5-1 entering the weekend.

Assuming OWU, WIT and KEN all finish in a three-way tie at 6-1:
Kenyon wins tiebreaker

If one of the three loses and two win to finish in a two-way tie at 6-1:
OWU and KEN tie at 6-1 – OWU wins tiebreaker
KEN and WIT tie AT 6-1 – WIT wins tiebreaker
OWU AND WIT tie AT 6-1 – WIT wins tiebreaker

All three lose Saturday to tie at 5-2:
OWU, WIT, KEN all tie at 5-2 + Wabash win = four-way tie at 5-2 (And Allegheny beats Hiram) – OWU wins tiebreaker
OWU, WIT, KEN all tie at 5-2 (all three lose on Saturday) + Wabash win = four-way tie at 5-2 (And Allegheny loses to Hiram) – OWU wins tiebreaker
OWU, WIT, KEN all tie at 5-2 (all three lose on Saturday) + Wabash loss (4-3) (And Allegheny beats Hiram) – OWU wins tiebreaker
OWU, WIT, KEN all tie at 5-2 (all three lose on Saturday) + Wabash loss (4-3) (And Allegheny loss to Hiram) – OWU wins tiebreaker

On with the games!
