Live from home

This is one of those weeks where I’ll be following basically any possible game from home.

The world of live video is still relatively new. I’m watching a game where the one camera missed the entire first touchdown, the broadcasters have given the starting quarterback two incorrect names in five seconds.

Waiting for the UW-Oshkosh/Huntingdon video to start at 1 p.m. Lots of games kicking off — feel free to keep us up to date on anything big you notice and we’ll do the same.

Those broadcasters just mentioned a punt rolling to the 55-yard line. Yikes. I know I wasn’t a great broadcaster in college but I knew when I wasn’t in Canada. 🙂

  1. I’m glad you posted first because I wasn’t sure I should lead off with “Live from Dover” again. But that’s where I am for No. 7 Wesley/Delaware Valley. Two years ago this would’ve been a lot of fun. This year I could see this getting ugly early.

But I’ll post updates as they warrant.

  2. Grove City up over Carnegie-Mellon, 6-2 at halftime. The Wolverine offense has had a couple good drives, which has made the difference. Both defenses have stepped up well.

  3. Del Val leads Wesley 14-7 at the break. The Wolverines have killed themselves with mistakes — a bad snap on a punt, two interceptions and a fumble. Del Val turns two of the four into 14 points. Nice first half for Aggies freshman Matt Cook including a touchdown.

  4. CMU pulls out two unanswered touchdowns in the second half to win 16-6. Wolverine defense really only allowed on big play and the Wolverine offense had a couple good drives but turnovers ended their chances. Closer game than it sounded.

  5. No but we’ll see if we can find it before one of the schools gets to reporting it.

Dickinson’s Will Scott returned a Hobart fumble 95 yards for a touchdown and a two-point conversion gave the Red Devils a 27-24 lead with 0:47 left. Hobart is trying to drive for a game-tying field goal.

  6. Gritty effort by the Aggies defense, but the offense too stagnant. Wesley breaks out for 17 points in 10 minutes for the victory, 24-21.

    Take aways from this one…

Wes has three great weapons in Clarke, Beavers and the underrated Jon Lanouette who had the game winning catch.

Wesley has so much talent they can afford to make mistakes and still win — for now. Eventually they’ll have to play better for 60 minutes, but maybe not until deep in they playoffs.

Del Val’s defense is great. If the offense can get anything going, they’ll be competitive in the MaC.

  7. Ancona couldn’t connect from 42 in the Hobart half of OT, but Matt Stark did from 37 out and Dickinson wins, 30-27.

  8. Live from home is not bad at all. D3football.com — self-promotion aside — really makes it a fun day. You’ve got audio, video and scoreboard watching, and you can still have a Yard Sale or clean out under the stairs while it’s all going on. Getting stuff done without going through complete D3 football withdrawal = nice Saturday so far.

I guess I’ll have to see what’s brewing, besides possible (or final by now, who knows) wins by UW-RF, Widener (shoulda put those both on the games to watch list) and Heidelberg.

  9. On a great September afternoon, I put the laptop on the deck and grill away. Beer in one hand, spatula in the other. Ribeyes and rallies all around.

thanks, d3.com for making it so easy.

I’d thought of checking out Wesley in Dover today — sounds like a great win, congrats — but life intervened. And I’m glad I got a chance to listen to SJU’s rally past UWRF. I’ll admit I did run in to the desktop PC and check out the scores of other big MIAC games. Oles, Cobbers, Bethel also win big non-league games.

  10. Incredible finish to the Coast Guard/Merchant Marine game. Teams combined for 41 points in the fourth quarter and each scored in the final two minutes. Merchant Marine had a chance to win with two shots from the 17 in the closing seconds but couldn’t convert.

Great to meet another of the D3 staff today.. Boy if the Wolverines stop giving away points they could relax late in these games. A fumble at the one. geeeesh… Uncle Frank lit a fire under the crowd there in the fourth quarter and kicked a field goal at half!!!. The noise really seemed to bother Del Val, That along with the Wesley D.

  12. Gustavus Adolphus’ new stadium is pretty sweet!! It is odd though to watch a team who almost looks exactly like Michigan (except it’s black instead of blue), and then to see them win! (Heh…)
