D3sports.com: Now with baseball!

For many years, people have asked when I would be doing D3baseball.com. The answer was always “never.”

Well, never say never, because we’ve opened the doors on D3baseball.com. Though it’s not a brand-new site. Like D3hoops.com was, D3baseball.com is an existing site that is coming under the D3sports.com umbrella. Jim Dixon’s Division III Baseball Online is now part of the family.

I’ve written more on the D3baseball.com Daily Dose about how the site came about, how it will be run, etc., but we hope you will stop by the site, which is probably about 85% complete.

If you’ve previously registered to comment on the D3football.com Daily Dose, you should be able to comment on D3baseball.com’s Daily Dose as well with the same username and password.

Thanks to Jim Dixon, but also thanks to Ralph Turner, who nurtured the baseball fan base on our message boards last season. Jim’s participation on those boards last year helped pave the way for this, I believe.

  1. Pat, thanks for the acknowledgement. It is gratifying to see the response that we had from the fans in D3Nation to the D3baseball message boards last season. And, it is very exciting to see the launching of D3baseball.com.

Heres to a successful website and many hours of D3baseball on the definitive source for D3sports.

(Now all we need are the synergies of the creative minds in D3Nation to build the sites that we dream of and to connect them! I am confident that this platform is integral to that success.)

  2. The site looks fantastic Pat!

While the team I follow most is Cortland State football, my first love in sports is baseball. I cannot get enough MLB and minor league baseball.

Cortland as y’all know is a major powerhouse in D3 baseball, but honestly I’ve always struggled with the college game because of the aluminum rocket launchers…err, bats. If they went to the wooden bats, and scores were more like 4-3 than 15-14, I’d be right there as a mega fan. As it is, I follow it semi-closely.

I’ll definitely post on the baseball blogs. I hope you all excuse the fact that I am a sabermetric nut, and I will be discussing OPS! 🙂

  3. Cortland, we are glad to have another upstate poster. I am always amazed at the pitching talent that the upstate NY, the NJAC and the New England teams have.

    Glad to have you.

    Your Sabermetrics are welcome, anytime.

  4. I know a few pitchers who would disagree with you Raider!!! I wonder if anyone has actually done a scientific study on era’s with alum. and wood in college. I know that the P.A.C. used them in 1999 and the games didn’t have as many cheap hits
