Ellis Krout and Wesley’s offense will be facing their stiffest defensive test of the season, at least on paper.

Alright, so, we have those bad first-round games out of the way, and only one unranked team in the round of 16. (And that’s only because we were forced to have one with unranked Alfred and unranked SUNY-Maritime facing off.)

Game Day: The best 90 minutes

With quarterback questions, the Wheaton running game will be even more important on Saturday.

The best 90 minutes of the season, bar none, is coming our way this afternoon. That’s from about 2:10 p.m. until 3:40 p.m. ET on the Saturday of the first-round games, where the noon games all come down to their finishes and the 1 p.m. games (noon CT) soon follow. In that swath of time, we’ll be eliminating 14 of the 32 teams on the Road to Salem, with the loser of the Bethel-Wartburg game and the Cal Lutheran-Linfield game coming later in the day.

And in the midst of all this, we need to try to make sense of it all.

Sunday’s schedule is really compact, with every game kicking off between noon and 4 p.m. ET. So it will be coming fast and furious around here and I don’t expect to leave my desk for a minute of it.
