just thought I’d use our blog to link any articles about any kind of D3 football that I’m finding while looking for other stuff. I’ll try to avoid standard game stories and previews, but it’s always nice to know who covers us and who doesn’t. Feel free to post links in comments.
The NYU student paper’s take on UAA football
A story, albeit a couple weeks old, on Daily Dose favorite Ferrum being undefeated.

Obviously, you aren’t old — and decrepit — enough to remember when NYU was a big-time competitor in college football. 🙂 Annually, the Violets and the Rams of Fordham played the big game (at the now-gone Polo Grounds, I think).
In the WIAC, The La Crosse Tribune is the best for coverage on a regular basis. At least three stories per week. They do an excellent job as does the Daily Jefferson County Union (Fort Atkinson/Whitewater)

Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has a regularly scheduled NCAA III story every Thursday which is nice.
With two newspapers in Crawfordsville (!) – both of them are competing to try to put the best local coverage out there – so Wabash does get a lot of press here in C’ville. And the Lafayette Journal Courier does a preview story on Saturday about Wabash and a nice game wrap up on Sunday, so it makes up for the lame job the Indianapolis Star does statewide for all of D-3. We’re all lucky if the Star does a paragraph on any football game, and for basketball, forget it.
Sorry, this is about GOOD press…I ranted.
Greensboro (NC) News and Record is only so so. If it’s not NC A&T, UNC-G or the ACC, forget it. lol Guilford College and Greensboro College are both inside the city limits, but sometimes they might as well be on another planet. Even though the schools have been here since 1837 and 1838, respectively, (which is, by the way, a lot older than the newspaper) they often refer to us by the wrong mascots. If I could only tell you how many times, I’ve seen Guilford College “Pride” and Greensboro College “Quakers.” It’s disheartening. If you are a DIII program in a small town that cares, even if it’s because you’re the only show in town, consider yourself lucky. lol

The Abilene Reporter-News covers ASC D3’s Hardin-Simmons and McMurry with some coverage of Howard Payne in Brownwwod 80 miles away, plus D2’s Abilene Christian and Tarleton State in Stephenville, 90 miles to the east.

The St. Cloud times follows St. John’s University with feature articles each week including a special feature of a player. It also follows the MIAC with pretty good coverage.

The Mankato Free Press will also do some coverage with Gustavus, but not as much recently with GAC struggling. With Concordia’s success, however, has come increased coverage from the Fargo Forum, at http://www.in-forum.com (reg. req.)

to titanq – that’s the way it ought to be! The Greensboro News & Record just seems to be staffed with everyone from the UNC journalism school in Chapel Hill – guess who they write about ad nauseum lol. There are 6 colleges in Guilford County (UNC-G, NC A&T, Bennett, Greensboro, Guilford & HiIgh Point Univ.) and the coverage varies greatly from almost nothing to a full page daily for the ACC. I wish it was evenly distributed here, too! I think part of the problem is there are over 50 four-year colleges/universities in NC, all clamoring for some attention!

I heard Beano Cook a couple weeks ago on the radio mention Washington & Jefferson, Amherst, Williams and Wesleyan … and said he loved small colleges and these guys work as hard as the big guys and deserve some love. … I was stunned, as I thought Beano only cared about Notre Dame and Pitt.
Also, one of our faithful message board posters got D3 a shout-out on NFL.com’s TMQ … but unfortunately, I am link-less for the moment.
