D-IIIs in the D-raft

As we count down the final hour until the start of the NFL Draft, some more coverage from papers across the country:

The Middletown, N.Y., Times Herald-Record’s Justin Rodriguez writes about Hobart guard Alex Bell. The (Portland) Oregonian writes about Brett Elliott’s date with irony, watching his former Utah backup, Alex Smith, potentially getting drafted No. 1. The Richmond (Va.) Times-Dispatch mentioned Hampden-Sydney running back C.W. Clemmons deep in a story about some Division I-A guy. And Frank Rajkowski of the St. Cloud Times talks with Gustavus Adolphus’ Ryan Hoag about his recollections of the 2003 draft

St. Mary’s back in the game?

The Minneapolis Star Tribune picked up on the St. Mary’s football rumors. They haven’t played football on the Winona campus since 1955. St. Mary’s is the smallest school in the MIAC. More from the Strib.

A member of the school’s Board of Visitors told D3football.com, “I would hate to see our 50-year unbeaten streak put in jeopardy.”

More PAC fallout

Alma and Wittenberg (dropped by Bethany and Thomas More) will now play each other on Sept. 17, in Week 3. The Alma/Aurora game moves to Sept. 10, Week 2.

This leaves Bridgewater still looking for an opponent, since BC and Wittenberg were in discussions about filling their mutual Thomas More date with each other.

Also, we received and posted Waynesburg’s schedule. They dropped Montclair State to fit Thomas More, so back to the drawing board for them. We’ve got three-quarters of the 2005 schedules posted now.
