Saturday night’s alright…

There are lots of good games on the slate tonight.

Texas Lutheran is trying to stay in the race against UMHB.
Wash U will try to avoid another loss to a CCIW opponent versus Wheaton.
DePauw and Trinity will finally meet again.
And UW-Oshkosh will have a chance to show they can contend in the WIAC against UW-Whitewater.

If you want to offer thoughts on these games or any others from today, fire away. And you can listen to a lot of these games off the scoreboard page (click on the plus sign to reveal the radio links).

  1. Crusing through the games it looks like we’ve got some lopsided games in the making early.

North Central is up 14-0 on Wash U early in the second quarter.

Beaver has a 97-yard TD against Oshkosh in the Warhawks 10-0 second quarter lead.

UMHB is badly outgaining TLU and leads 10-3.

We’ve added live stats and audio links to the UWW/UWO game.

  2. Repete:

Thanks. I’ll have to check that out.

Lightening strikes twice, delaying HSU-Louisiana College and Trinity-DePauw.

Meanwhile the Warhawks are striking early and often. 17-0 UWW in the second.

  3. HSU – Louisiana College is cancelled. This put HSU in same boat as UMHB in 2005 year where they are one game behind in all tiebreakers.

  4. Nice win for LaCrosse tonight against a ranked NAIA team. They appear to have played Azusa even tougher that Whitewater. AP’s only two scoring drives were after red-zone TOs, the announcers said the two drives totalled 8 yards.

  5. Yeah,
I don’t think Whitewater dominating La Crosse this year is a given by any means. Comparing scores is dangerous, but they played each other tough last time they met, so …

WIAC might get two in this year, who knows?

  6. Yeah, in the WIAC there are few givens, unless you’re a knowitall without any sense of historical perspective. Comparing scores is only a small part of the evaluating, but it’s worth noting that UWLX did it in SoCal, while UWW was at home.

If any conference in the West ought to get two — at this point at least — you’d have to say the WIAC. But that grinder of a conference schedule could take its toll yet again.

  7. I agee with many of the WIAC comments, but no team is invinsible in the WIAC, I think the only weak team is River falls. My question of the WIAC day is, Why does Stevens Point play Waldorf College. What do the prove playing such a weak opponent, other than an easy first win!

  8. “Cheesy Gordon strikes again.”

What would the world be like if Gordon wasn’t cheesy… wait, don’t think about it, it’s too sad of a thought. 😀 😉

“Wash U will try to avoid another loss to a CCIW opponent versus Wheaton.”

Not that it really matters any more, but Wash U lost to Wheaton in week 3 by a score of 48-7. This past week they actually played CCIW foe North Central College (who ended up posting a relatively scarily lackluster victory of 34-15).

  9. UW-SP likely plays Waldorf because getting non-conference games within a bus trip’s distance is relatively difficult for WIAC teams.

Especially if Lakeland ever decides it don’t want no more.
