NFL Films did a great piece on D3football.com All-America quarterback Zamir Amin back in 2001. It’s back on the NFL’s Web site.
I didn’t even know this video clip existed until I saw it this afternoon.
Amin was a two-time All-American at Menlo, born in Afghanistan but moved to the USA as a child. The piece focuses on him and Menlo in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. It is well worth the six minutes, 52 seconds to watch (plus whatever time it takes to download).
The graphics have been redone since it was originally aired, since Menlo receiver Nate Jackson is identified as a Denver Bronco.
Also worth revisiting is Mark Simon’s feature story on Amin and Jackson, which ran the week before the attacks.

Pat,
Great find. Zamir and Nate Jackson were a scary good combo to face. I love watching d3 video clips!
Speaking of d3 video clips….I’ve been messing around with some of the formating on Catdomealumni.com and wanted to share this clip of the 2005 West Region Finals of Whitewater vs. Linfield.

Granted it’s not a “balanced” highlight clip (come on..it’s a Linfield highlight clip) but you can still get the feeling of the drama in this great game.

I’m looking forward to the effect YouTube and the like has on Division III highlights this season.
PC,
Since we can’t ever count on seeing networks cover the sport we have to be our own “TV” network for highlights.
You Tube uploads quickly and you can encode the clips into your own page/blog but I’m not too hot on the quality of the vids. I’ve tested many and I still find Putfile.com to have the best vid quaility. However they don’t allow you to encode and limit the file to 25MB.
You’re right, Pat. Well worth it.
Amin and Jackson were almost unstopable. The two of them basically beat HSU by themselves their senior year.
I don’t if anybody saw the piece on Brett Eliott from Linfield on CSTV, but it’s a great half hour on him preparing for NFL scouts and the draft. It will most likely air again. It’s great to get a little air time for D III. Check it out.
pitkaine,
I’m tracking down a copy of the Elliott special right now and will put clips of it on catdomealumni.com. I wanted the piece stop airing on CSTV before I pulled clips.
Also, I have Pat’s 2005 ESPN playoff bracket special on tape and was thinking of putting up a “Best of” PC! I think the opening might be where Pat gets that “dear in the headlights” look for a few seconds. 😉
