Alright, well, I’m stuck at home today. This site doesn’t cover the mortgage, so on days when I’m not at work my wife often has to work at her part-time job.
So far so good on the Trinity/Amherst game, looks like we did the right thing sending Keith McMillan up there. Sounds like a good game at this point, although Teamline keeps cutting out at inopportune times. As best as I can tell, Trinity scored a touchdown on a broken play/bad snap field goal. Amherst came back with a long TD pass, but the PAT was blocked and Trinity returned it for a defensive two-point conversion. Trinity (Conn.) 9, Amherst 6.
Have already heard good stuff from our folks in the field. Apparently there’s a scenario in which the LL comes down to a coin flip. Kings Point and Shenandoah could be candidates for the open MAC slots. Looks like the weather is holding up so far at Central/Wartburg. Rose-Hulman does live stats so we’ve added a link to the Rose-Hulman/DePauw game on the Scoreboard.
Will post more as I surf through games.
Hobart’s Rick Eicheldinger intercepts Union on Union’s first play from scrimmage. That game off to an interesting start already.
And now the baby is up from her nap. 🙂
Baby is OK. Other two kids are fighting. Meanwhile, Delaware Valley’s Adam Knoblauch has hit Don Marshall for an 88-yard touchdown and now is just 2 passing yards short of 10,000 passing/1,000 rushing.
Worcester State’s Tom Gabriel hit his NEFC-record 12th field goal and the Lancers lead Fitchburg State 9-7 at the break.
A hah — tuned in to Ithaca’s live video broadcast for the first time and my 3-year-old is fascinated. “Ooh, daddy, you have a TV on your ‘puter!”
Great picture, I am shocked. Have DSL at home, stream is working fine without hiccuping so far. No score, end of 1.
Adam Knoblauch became the second Division III player to reach the 10,000 passing/1,000 rushing milestone with a pass to Joel Foreman on a scoring drive. Knoblauich, appropriately enough, finished the drive with a 16-yard TD run. 21-7 Delaware Valley.
Alright, I’ve gotten stuck on this Alfred/Ithaca game because it’s such a quality production, hard to surf away from it. But Ithaca has scored twice since I logged on and it’s 14-0. Time to move on. Live stats show Capital scored in the first 17 seconds of the game against John Carroll.
Randolph-Macon broadcasters mention Bridgewater has 30 points with 11 minutes left in the first half. They don’t mention what Macon has scored but I think we get the idea. Time to move on.
Hobart salvages a field goal after Shawn Mizro takes a 10-yard loss on a sack with goal to go. Union leads 14-3. Good strong, high-quality audio signal from WEOS as always.
Was just about to tune out and as that happened Union returned the kickoff 59 yards to the Hobart 27.
Pat, the IC and AU game got interesting again as Brady scored w/ less than a minute to go in the half to make it 13-7 IC….
Alright. What’s Esposito’s status? Did he get back in after he was slow to get up on the second TD catch?
Hobart held, forced an incomplete pass from Union on fourth-and-10 from the 17.
Going to stick with this until halftime, I guess. Hobart just got a big gain on a tipped pass and has goal to go with a minute left in the half.
Esposito supposedly just had the wind knocked out of him…
Hobart had a fourth and goal play called back because of a penalty so the first half ends with Union leading 14-3.
Down by 11 w/ the ball inside the 10, you have to kick it…..
Just a side note on the IC/AU game, its the first time AU has scored in 3 years vs IC!
how can i get the ithaca au game? ive been trying to get it through wicb but it isnt working well…is there another way?

Ferrum started slow against NCWC (14-14 after one), then went off in the second quarter. It was 42-21 with ~2 minutes left when I changed to another game. FC defense a little suspect but the offense is gaining ground in huge increments.
(left in 1st half)
Looks like lots of teams who can clinch are rolling along.
Del Val, Wabash, etc.
On the bright side, Juniata has a nice Eagle mascot and some dude(tte?) dressed up as Chewbaca.
Got back to that Ithaca/Alfred game in time to see Alfred’s Ron Smith return an interception 60 yards for a touchdown. Alfred leads 14-13 with 12:30 in the third.
DePauw is all over Rose-Hulman today. Things started badly for the Engineers when the first play of the game was a 29-yard INT return for a DPU TD. They got that one back with a 65-yard run from Cameron Hummel, but DePauw scored on their next series, Charlie Key fumbled on RHIT’s next offensive play, DPU scored on a trick play, and it was all downhill from there. DPU is up 35-7 as the half ends. Sounds like they are ready to play Wabash next week.
Sounds like as good as this game is, I need to check out UW-Whitewater/UW-Stout, with Stout leading early 10-0.
“Chewbacca” was just sworn in as an American citizen in ceremonies in the north Texas area last month.
aka Peter Mayhew, for those wondering.
Trinity (TX) starts out well but two turnovers blunt the early momentum. There may be a QB change coming up as Jacob Cannon has not been sharp after the first two series. Trinity 7, Sewanee 3 at the half.
Hmm, ok, good game but I have to switch sides on the broadcast. A little too much homerism on the home side. “Take that, Warhawks!” Who says that?
OK, well, can’t get the Whitewater broadcast to load. So I’m just going to switch games entirely.
It is interesting in Rock Island. Augustana up 17-7 right before the half.
That’s where I was headed, actually. Little less homerism from the North Central students so far. 0:09 left in the half.
Kam Kniss fumbles the snap from the 1-yard line. North Central calls time out and settles for a 22-yard field goal. Augustana 17-10 halftime.
Ithaca kneels down and clinches the E8 with a 28-14 win.
Washington U. got into the Rockford bullpen and leads 7-5 in the middle of the fifth … err, at halftime.
Goodness… Ferrum leads NC Wesleyan 63-28 with 3:29 left.
what is going on with the hobart union game?
Christopher Newport….down by 11 in the fourth to Averett.
Hobart ball down 21-18 5:00 left.
Would like to listen to Rowan/William Paterson down the stretch here (Post Patterns reports Paterson leading) but Rowan’s broadcast is full. 20-19 Paterson but Rowan ball, apparently.
That’s a final. Big upset for Paterson. Lots of questions now about what the state of the Rowan offense is without Orihel.
OK, gotta go pay attention to the kids for a while, losing containment on the little ones. 🙂 Check the Scoreboard for updates.
Recommending Central/Wartburg and St. Olaf/Concordia-Moorhead among the 2 p.m. games to check in on.
Amherst lost to Trinity (CT), 30-20.
Occidental just scored on a short FG to take the lead from LaVerne, 10-9, with 1:43 left 1st quarter. The difference is a missed LV PAT.
North Central forced three second half turnovers, but only scored only once in the second half. They block a game winning FG, but they were offsides on the play.
Augie kicks the game winning FG with no time on the clock. Wabash will become #1 in the North. Augie clinches the CCIW and North Central will probably go to “C”.
Now 16-10 LaVerne. Oxy can’t figure how to stop the LaVerne running game so far.
Overtime in UW-Oshkosh, UW-Eau Claire game. UW-EC hits a FG to tie the game with 4 seconds left. (According to redswarm81, we should just call this a tie.) Probably no playoff implications anymore, though.
Fitchburg State beats Worcester State, 20-17. John Hirko came up with a HUGE defensive stop on fourth down on Worcester’s last-minute scoring attempt. He upended Steve Kasprzak as he turned the corner following a short screen pass.
LaVerne stopped Oxy for the first time today, got the ball back inside their 5, throw a deep pass to someone with only three catches all year from midfield down to the Oxy 2. Two runs by Craig get about a yard and a half. Guerrero scores on a sneak. With the PAT, the #7 team in the country now trails 24-10 with 8:20 left in the half.
The Oxy announcers, by the way, are doing a very professional job. They are calling the holes opened up by LaVerne’s OL “ridiculous”.
Well, at until they start to talk about how LaVerne traditionally is a bunch of cheap-shot artists …
Oxy gets to midfield but a third-down pass is forced out of the receivers’ hands. LaVerne starts at the six after the punt returner makes a foolish decision to make a return from the four. Oxy, in turn, holds and take over at the LaVerne 37 with about five minutes left in the half. Announcers say a rather obvious clip right in front of a referee was not called.
Next play is a screen to the 20, a roughing the passer call takes it to the ten. Six yard pass on third and goal to Jones and PAT closes the gap to 23-17, 2:48 remaining.
