A department of 60 student-athletes?

Josh Centor’s NCAA blog (Double-A Zone) had an interesting discussion with the head coach at Wesleyan (Ga.) about the struggles that their student-athletes go through. With just 60 student-athletes, and 10 or so playing more than one sport, the challenges are great, said Sara Wilson:

“In addition to our lack of a pool of athletes, the athletes that we do have at Wesleyan tend to be pulled in many different directions, because everyone on campus seems to want a piece of their time. Many of our athletes are members of any number of campus organizations that meet on a regular basis and all participate in campus traditions that demand a lot of their time.”

Wesleyan hasn’t won since Feb. 18, 2004, 49-48 at Agnes Scott. The Pioneers have lost 48 games since.
