Showdown Saturday Live Blog

It’s that time again. With the entire gang on the road this weekend across the country, I’ll start off the weekly Saturday blog.

I’m here in a hotel room in Albany, N.Y., and the weather is absolutely miserable outside. There’s a large front of showers across the northeast, it’ll be interesting to see how it impacts all of the games today.

Check in with your thoughts here.

The offensive fireworks are already underway at Benedum Field in Springfield. Ithaca and Springfield are tied 7-7 about midway through the first quarter and the Pride is driving again. Chris Sharpe has a chance to become Springfield’s all-time career rushing yards leader.

  1. I must say, my Statesmen made it look pretty easy today. 41-22 and quite frankly, it wasn’t that close. RPI just keeps on winning, but they have 2 tough contests left. Always tough Union and pesky Rochester (5 straight wins), both away are most likely what stands in the way of a playoff birth for Hobart. It’s getting interesting!

  2. Linfield had no problem at Menlo, 37-6, and wrapped up consecutive winning season #52. ‘Cats at Whitworth next week for the NWC title and (probably) a playoff berth.

  3. I haven’t been able to get on all day, but it’s like I said last week – MHB was never going to roll over Whitewater and I was afraid this might happen – though not quite this bad. MHB, for all the points they ran up on ASC opponents, is a very sloppy team. I am a fan, but I had a feeling that lack of a strong passing game, ball control and for crying out loud – PENALTIES – would kill them. They were able to get away with all of this and more in their conference games. But they couldn’t get away with it on UW-W. I even heard that MHB was picked to win this game and I never thought it would happen. But I didn’t expect them to get killed so badly.

  4. Plus I think that getting behind so early by so much for a team that almost never trails in a game was more than they could overcome mentally though once it looked like they might. They aren’t used what they had to face today and it showed.

  5. So Ferrum is two wins away from wrapping up the Conference title and the automatic bid. HAHA… ok ok…realistically did anyone think they would be at least .500 at the end of the year? Give Coach Davis a little credit he has only 4 starting seniors and should be a playoff contender over the next 2 years.

ODAC…really weak this year. Give credit to RMC though…Having a great year.
    HSC and Bridgewater….completely overrated.

NCW – great road win….this team is def. a different team than from the first two weeks.
